Staying Out Of Perfectionists' Prison & Appreciating Perfect Moments - 005

perfectionism podcast May 08, 2017

Welcome to the fifth episode of Harness Your ADHD Power, a podcast show I created to explore the many facets of adult life with ADHD and how you can learn to harness your personal ADHD power to become unstoppable.

I firmly believe that each and every one of you deserves a good life; however you define it, especially when you're actively looking for help to achieve it.

In this episode, I talk about "Perfectionists' Prison" and the life sentence without parole that you might be giving yourself, rather than appreciating and celebrating the "Perfect Moments", and making conscious, rich memories from them.

The road to being perfect can be paved with depression, anxiety or even suicidal thoughts due to the inability to achieve perfection.  This isn't an innocent condition; in fact, it can be fatal.

Thoughts have power.  If you keep thinking that you have to be perfect or else...this is a recipe for disaster.  Life is filled with shades of gray and it's up to you to decide whether or not you will see all the glorious variations day-by-day and celebrate them - or judge them and yourSELF.  You get to decide what you will think about any given event in your life.  Your mind is willing to generate many wonderful and crazy stories; one perhaps just as true as another depending on how you put together the facts and their meaning.  It's up to you to decide what your stories and truths will be.  What a wonderful opportunity!
